Fashion Trend: Denim on Denim

Allover denim can look chic with looking like the infamous ensemble by Britney and Justin circa 2000. The trick is to wear different washes/colors of denim, like a lighter wash on top with a darker wash on the bottom, or a blue denim top and colored denim pants.

Fashion Trend: Culotte Shorts

A new take on skorts (shorts underneath an attached skirt) are the culotte shorts. The skirts are flowy and the shorts underneath are good for coverage when the wind blows. In the '60s and '70s culotte shorts were made wide legged shorts like these

Fashion Trend: Gladiator Boots

Gladiator sandals have become a summer staple. Gladiator boots are a modern twist on gladiator sandals. I find these to be unpractical to wear because they come up to the knee, have cutouts and high heels. These boots are definitely for a dressy look. Since the boots come up to the knee it is best to wear them with mini dresses or mini skirts.

Fashion Trend: Varsity Jackets

Varsity jackets are the jackets that are given to members of a varsity team sport, marching band or recognition in another school activity. The jacket is typically styled in the school colors with a capital letter pertaining to the school on the front. You don't have to be in school to wear them anymore, because they have been seen everywhere from on adult celebrities to on the fashion runways.

Hair Trend: Victory Rolls

Victory rolls were a popular hairstyle worn by pin up girls in the 1940s. The hairstyle is made from pinning up hair from the sides and rolling them inwards. Then you can make it into an updo or leave the rest of your hair in loose curls. I think this hairstyle is a little too vintage for everyday wear and is better for a costume. What do you think? Do you like pin-up girl style?

Top Beauty Trends of 2012

Pixie Cuts
This year many stars chopped off their locks. Vanessa Hudgens and Anne Hathaway did it for their movie roles in Gimmie Shelter and Les Miserables. Rihanna and Miley Cyrus personally decided to cut their hair because they wanted to change their look. Kellie Pickler choose to shave her head to support her friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Top Knot Bun
Loads of celebs wore their hair in a topknot bun. Miley wore her hair in a bun so often it even got its own twitter account. People started to use a sock or a bun donut to create their own perfect topknot.
Hair Color Matches Outfit
This year wild hair colors such as blue and purple were not vibrant but were in more muted tones. At red carpet events, celebs were able to match their hair color with their outfits without it looking too cartoony.

Stiletto Nails
Nails that were long and pointy or oval were a big trend for musicians. The long nails made even more room for nail art!
Ombre Hair
Ombre and dip dye locks were a trend especially for dark brown hair. It is a subtle way to go lighter without having to commit to having to dye your roots periodically.
