Nail Trend: Cuticle Tattoos

Add cuticle tattoos to your list of nail art options! Cuticle tattoos look great to call more attention to your new manicure. They can also be a cool way to try some no commitment tattoos. While I do not think they last very long after a few hand washes, I think its a fun idea for a night out! Would you wear cuticle tattoos?

Nail Trend: Feather Effect

Nails Inc. new nail polish give your nails a feathered effect. It has a clear base filled with short pieces of fabric that create the look of feathers. I think it would look better using real feathers. What do you think?

Nail Trend: Gel Manicure

A gel manicure is a type of manicure that uses a special gel polish and a UV light. A gel manicure lasts longer than a regular manicure because it won't chip for at least 14 days. The manicure results in nails that are not thin and weak and look shiny. The best part is that with the UV light there is little drying time.(No more waiting around, hoping your nails are dry!) The disadvantages are there is not a huge selection of colors, the UV light can be damaging to your skin (just like tanning beds), removal of the polish is hard to do by yourself (soaking or wrapping your nails in acetone) and you may have to go back to the salon and your nails can be weakened after taking them off. Nail companies like Sally Hansen and Sephora by OPI are selling their own gel manicure kits so you can create this look at home.

Nail Trend: Leather Nail Polish

A London polish brand named nails inc. has created a leather effect nail polish that is performed magnetically. This nail polish was made popular by British model and TV host Alexa Chung. Texture nail polish is a huge trend and has been seen with velvet, caviar-like beads, and now leather. The kit also comes with a blinged out skull to put as a jewel on your nail. It comes in three colors tan, black and mulberry. This polish will soon be available in the United States.

Nail Trend: Caviar Nails

From the UK brand Ciate, (now avaliable at sephora in the US), caviar nails are named the beady texture it creates on your nail that resembles caviar.  It doesn't really look like caviar to me, especially in the rainbow shade, it looks like cupcake sprinkles! The kit from Ciate ($25) includes a base polish, bottle of "pearls", a tray and a funnel to put the excess pearls back in the bottle. This is great for trying something new if you're tired of glitter nails.
